Corner light blinkers
« on: Feb 05, 2008, 05:36:32 PM »
Has anyone got the trick to work on their corner lights to hook up the positive from the blinker to the negative of the corner light and have the positive of the corner light still with that positive so when you turn your blinkers on itll make it work?

If not what else did people with tacomas do to get the corner lights to have the blinkers also in it? I saw the 1157 bulb trick but no place in town even has the sockets.

search the $300 thread.  I just bumped it the other day. I know it's in there, and I can't see a Taco being any different.

It is.. I kept blowing fuses and I did it exactly how he did. I think its the fact that a tacoma uses the 194 bulbs. I dont know what third gens are like but i know he was doing it on his 83 and i also did it on my 81 and it worked.

2nd gens use 194s also...in the corner anyway, I've never dicked with the blinkers, or with relocating the blinker.

you can't pull the socket out of the blinker lens and cut a hole to fit in the corner marker?

yeah sorry man.  the common one, or at least what is common down here is an LS6469...that's the one I keep in stock.

It's like 1 1/8" hole, with two leads and a tab to attach a floating ground wire to so it can be used in a plastic housing.

its a light socket for a double filament bulb.  one is the marker, the other is the blinker.  drill a hole or enlarge the factory one, splice the wires and call it good.

I just drilled  a 1" hole in the parking light housing and stuck the bulb for the turn light in there and silconed around it.  done deal. took all of 5 minutes to finish.

to make this easier for yourself you can put a relay in so the parking light is also the blinker.  to do this take the parking light wire and cut it in half, put one side of the wire to pin 30 and the other to pin 87a, ground pin 85 and put the blinker positive to pin 86.  this will keep the parking light on until the blinker is turned on, then it will turn the parking light off when it blinks. just an idea, its how i did it in my truck hopfully it helps you out.
