I have a LCE header on my trail rig and a Downey header on my DD/trail rig. They both preform great, but I do like the LCE a little better cuz they put the O2 sensor lower on the tube and easy to get to. The sound on both of them is great.

Also check here for opinions.

I'm running an LC engineering stainless longtube header with ceramic coating.
It's kinda pricey but I would recommend it to anyone, no leaks!
There's probably a bunch header info in previous exhaust posts.
Good luck!

I saw this cruising Ebay, has anybody seen or heard of anyone using this. I think it looks OK for what your paying for it but they have the O2 sensor in one of the primaries I would think that it maybe more effective down by the collector IMO. Anybody else's thoughts on this header?

I'm a fan of Thorley myself.  I'd stick with one of the top three brands(Thorley, Downey, or LC).

If I remember correctly LCE headers are actually made by Thorley.

Wow thats wierd if I remember correctly the LC cost me significantly more.
Isn't the Thorley tri y and LC long tube.
I wonder who designed the LC header? LC or did Thorley design and manufacture the LC header?

I have been running a Thorley for 5 years now. Couldn't be happier. Its smog legal and adds noticeable power.

Well it depends where you are.  Thorley is pretty much the only decent option if you are in "Kalifornia" and have to also pass smog/have it also be CA smog certified.   Thankfully the little 22 series engines don't have enough power to be noticeably choked off by the CA smog certified headers.  If it was a V6 or V8, yeah, if you're not in CA, don't get a CA approved model obviously because it'll hurt your power.(the Thorley for the 22RE seems to be about right where the engine hits its sweet spot between power and torque - and is noticeably better than stock)

I'm running one size larger than stock - about the smallest BFG makes MTs - and with the new header, it pulls up a 5% grade in 5th gear if I have it floored.  (maybe 60-65mph like this).  Before it was 50mph get run over as opposed to slow lane is okay.  More importantly, 5th doesn't lug any more at 65mph(old sweet spot/power boost was at 75mph - now it's about 65, which means down shifting to pass on level ground isn't a requirement, merely a fun option.)

Hey, with gas costing me $3.50 a gallon in Los Angeles now, freeways in 5th gear is a nice bonus as this is also my daily driver.

Well worth it.  You'll not be disappointed.

I just installed a NWOR header a couple weeks ago.  Real nice 1/2'' flange no gasket came with collector and all hardware also flanged but not drilled for O2 sensor. Im seeing impressive gains in mid range HP and alot better MPG. Downer was the cost and it's not Cali smog legal.  :twocents:

Well I have a Downey header and it is smog legal here in california too. I like it, it sounds nice and the power difference was noticeable. LCE headers are sweet though too, i have a couple friends with those and if you can afford them and they are smog legal where you live i say they are probably the way to go
