Just put some boots on them , theer not to much and they have ones that you don't have to remove the axle to put them on.

Ya but if your gonna pull them off to put the boots on you might as well just replace them cause your gonna be in there, That's how I always look at it

I used to buy the Schucks forever warranty ones. Used the warranty 3 times before I got rid of the IFS. Bought a couple junkyard ones for spares. Junkyard CV's were going for $25 to $35, the rebuilt ones were around $75 each IIRC. Probably over $100 each nowdays. Put new boots on your present ones & use them as spares if you are getting new ones. The hardest part of replacing them is the clamps.

Most any parts store has them or can order them. I used to get mine at NAPA. They usually come in a kit with the boot, clamps & grease. Make sure to clean the joint where the boot was split to get as much of the dirt out as possible. The clamps can be a little tricky to put on the first time. If you were local I would help you with it.

Most people on 4x4wire recommend only using OEM boot kits.  Go to yotatech.com and look up user TOR.  That's Todd who is the parts guy at Toyota of Richardson in texas.  He's got pretty good deals most of the time.   My boot kit cost somewhere around $25.  One boot kit will fix both the inner and outer boots of 1 axle.

Your next question is going to be how you get the stupid axle out in the first place.  The secret is to remove at least 2 of the 6 studs holding the axle on.

Here's what I do, no need to remove the ball joints. All you do is:

1. disconnect the sway bar and shock.
2. Remove the upper bumpstop.
3. Remove at least 2 studs
4. jack up the truck by the frame or cross member.
5. Slide the axle out easily.

The most important thing is to remove the studs. You can grind/file down the splines and re-use them.

Well, if the ideal of excluding the lesser equipped (stock or otherwise) is accepted... there is no fundamental difference between that and a Sierra CLub ideal of exclusion. If we cannot embrace the 4wheel users as a whole. We are not fighting for access. I cannot be that shortsighted
