My intention was to beat up an old Toy on the trail, and have fun with it just the way it is. They are perfectly capable.

The problem is, once you've gone as far as you can on the trail, over and over, You just have to be able to go further.
I attempted the hammers, with mods,( read on) and made it past the sign, just barely !

So, a cheap trail toy, has taken on a Christine-like hold on me.
First came taller tires for better ground clearance, with agressive tread for better grip. Then, you know how it goes, I needed gears to offset the leverage that taller tires put on my drivetrain.

If you tear into it to re-gear, that's the best time to install traction, it's already torn apart.
I wanted more stability and strength, so I had to have a '86 and up rear housing, and a four cylinder diff just wouldn't do.
While building a custom rear axle, for better braking and a cleaner look, a rear disk brake conversion was a lock.
Oh, and that crossover steering set-up, sweet isn't it?

Pretty darn capable, going further now, but still riding the clutch over obstacles that require a smoother approach. 4 wheel low, isn't low enough.
My order is in for a dual adapter.Two transfers, hmmm, reduction gears.

A dual ultimate transfer case. Is this the never ending story?

Actually......I'll need new, and beefy, driveshafts, after the duals.
But, I can't do that before I set up my suspension! AARRGGHH!

Up to this point, I've been able to do one mod at a time. But this last one is major.
Duals, crossmember, springs, shocks, driveshafts.
Am I done yet?
Maybe an exo, flat bed, oh, I still don't have a winch.

I believe they have a 12 step program for this! The only thing holding me back is money at this point. The 4.3 is on an engine stand in the garage & the money for the rear leafs is lacking.
