We put my front springs together.  they are made from the top three leaves of my stock rear springs and the bottom three leaves from the front of a stock wagoneer.  I can't believe how much arch they have, the 3 toy leaves alone have a lot of arch, i just put the other three in to help support the weight.  we will se if it works.  I will order high steer tomarrow from MC and then saturday i will buy 2 Rancho 5034's and shock mounts for the front.  Right after i get my check from work.

seems like this truck is constantly getting the hook up :bling:

Yep, the money comes in and the money goes right out lol.  I ordered highsteer today but it looks like i will wait to get the other stuff.  My check wasn't quit big enough.   :dunno:

Skinny_Pedal

i like your thinking. why save money when it can go into my truck. if i had a job i would the same thing. so im looking!

got the highsteer.  All i need now is a 4wd independent power steering box, shocks and shock mounts.  I am getting excited.  I might be able to start it next week.

Watch out for the down hills,  It has it's perks, but it has it's down sides.  Do you drive it on the street much?  It's something you are going to have to lern to drive.       :smack:

I have driven my friends toy and it has the excact same suspension as what i am doing.  But i kinda messed up my clutch a lot od the Con.  Bent the heck out of my stock tie rod on the last rock going out of the rubicon.  drove to robbs somehow and had to be towed from there.  got a new clutch and will be installing it tomarrow.

Hyena

Well, we installed the clutch yesterday.  Everything went smoothly.  The old clutch was absolutely gone on one side.  Today we started on the suspension and highsteer swap.  first off we took off the bumper.  Then i started on the steering.  As i was taking it off the pass. side nuckle decided it wanted to dump half the oil from the diff.  (nice seal  :headscratch:)  So i am like, Ok, i need to change it anyway.  Any way i check to see if the bottom bolts holding the wipes are loose.  I go to tighten it and it decides to break.  So far it isn't going to good.  I thought i would deal with that later.  Then i tried taking the pass side steering arm off.  Half the Triniun bearing decided to come with it.  So now i got 14 bearings in the nuckle and a broken bolt on the nuckle with no grease or oil.  It started out really great.  So then i take the whole nuckle off and decide to drill out the broken bolt and tap it.  Then we drill it out to far.  Now we are deiciding to just weld a stud in there and use a nut to take it off.  I guess i am going to have to buy a new seal and bearing kit.  My dad is going to pick me up one on saturday.  I already owe him money for the steering box with cost $215 rebuilt.  This project isn't starting out good.  What else could go wrong this week?

Dude I feel for ya.  I owe my dad for a knuckle service kit, front main, radiator, brake master cylinder, pedal rubber, my '85 axle, and exhaust!

Sorry to jack part of your thread brad but ive been there two.   I bought my truck for 600 bucks.  i had to take a 200$loan from my dad.  It didn't have a tranny/tcase-drivelines and the truck was sitting for 6 years.  So I bought each and everysingle part that it needed and i ran out of money and finally i go to smog my truck and register it and i owe 157$ in back registration and another 50 for smogin it and another 200 for windshield and the muffler.  My dad just said screw it and he paid for it.  So right now im doing everything at home right now.  He said dont pay him back, just do all of the chores around the house.    >My dad

Well the way I figure it My DAD owes me  for letting him barrow my fig and the broken parts and body damage he brings it back with.

Thats funny.  I got the front suspension mostly done.  Steering box out, front mounts cut off, new mounts welded on, springs in place and half the U-bolt flip on.  the axle sits about 2 inches farther forward.  I traded drivelines with my friend becasue the one i had wouldn't work.  But it hits on the crossmember/skidplate.  So that will take some cutting to fix.  I would like to buy a seal kit from MC but i need it on saturday to finnish and it wouldn't be here by then.  So i am having to spend more money to buy one around here at the 4wd shops.  Hopefully this week my check will be big enough to pay my dad back the $4?? I am going to owe him.  My mom had the camera so i couldn't take any pictures.     But i will take some tomarrow were i left off hopefully.

Hyena

Today we did pretty much nothing.  I finished welding my crossmember on.  Put my U-bolt flip on.  Drilled out the holes in my steering box to fit the bolts.  I couldn't get the pitman arm off the steering box so it will have to be pressed off tomarrow or i can maybe trade the fj-80 rod end for a heim joint.  I couldn't a drill big enough that will fit the drill we have so i am gonna have to do some funky cutting.  I need to cut a peice out of my crossmember/skid plate for my t-case because my driveline hits it.

Hyena

Drilled the steering box holes today.  didn't have time to mount it.  Put my hub back together with the seal and bearing kit.  Got the pitman arm pressed off today so we could put the marlin one on.  My dad went to Reibes to have it pressed off.  The puller we had just bent. The pitman puller they had at Reibes broke because the arm was on so tight.  They had to use a drill press or something, i don't know becasue i wasn't there.  they guy said that it was the first pitman puller he had ever broke.  And my luck this week keeps on getting better.  So we will finish it up tomarrow for sure.

Jared

Hey brad im having trouble gettin two pitman arms off a steering box.  i broke two pullers and practically tried everything.  even heating it up with a torch.  how much did they charge at reibes to get it pressed off?  how far is it from south sacramento? :beerchug:
ah the beauty of a cuttin torch

Hyena

They charged my dad I think $15.00 to pull it off.  The Reibes he went to is in Auburn which is pretty far from Sac.  You might try and see if the local 4x4 shop and take it off.  We went to Foothill Offroad first but they didn't have the puller in yet.  So there is a chance that one close to you could have one.

WHITE_TRASH

I use a small 3 jaw puller to take pitman arms off.  With the box laying on the shop floor and the puller cranked down as hard as possible I beat on the arm a coouple times and voila.  The arm and box seperate easily.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

Hyena

I pretty much finished it off today.  Put the highsteer and the box on and mounted right.  Cut the crossmember/skidplate.  Found out that the springs are kinda soft.  Too soft.  The truck sits about the same as before.  But it flexs so much better.  Same up travel and a lot more down travel.  Still need to work out a few bugs like the springs and we need to center the pitman arm on the box.  Found out it wasn't centered when it wouldn't turn all the way to the left.  No biggy.  The springs i can deal with for a few weeks.  Here are the pics.
