any more tricks to sqeeze just a bit more power outta these babies?
my buddy in his 1st gen had his 22r hiting 7500 and all its got is a pipe
Do yourself a favor and stick with the factory flywheel. I read somewhere that they are about 30lbs and this is good for the tourque you need.
Also don't do this untill you have upgraded your fuel system (bigger injectors and a higher flow fuel pump) or your engine will ping like crazy and we all know that isn't good (lean condition).
install a 20R distributor, you will be amazed at the difference
Whats the difference between a 22R dist. and a 20R dist?
delta cam can grind a "comp extream energy 4x4" for $60. ran mine for 80,000 miles and was very happy. good flow exhaust system is good and maybe a header but they are more work then there worth. cheap ones will warp and blow gaskets allot and more if you off road in water or mud. electric fans= 20hp. if you do the heads do the bottom end too. a hone rings and bearings are worth the cost so you can balance it. balancing is like striping off 500lbs of resistance. balance,a port-polish and cam are the biggest HP gains for the $. good flow at both ends are next. the rest is little 5-20 gains. leave the stock fly wheel and pulleys unless you want to run nascar. i did all the work and the cost of parts and machine work was $600. it was a pulling SOB for a 4cyl. running a 400hp v8 now
This thread rocks!
but can you run em on a 22re?
79coyotefrg you know your toyota stuff!!!!! Thanks for answering my question. This thread rocks!
Balanced crank?I talked to a local machine shop and they said balancing the crank is unnecessary unless you're building a bigger engine, v 6 or an 8. ? I guess balancing rods and pistons is good enough?
