Just got back from Moab not too
long ago, and wanted to share
some pics that came out great!
We took our blue '79 and tan '83
rigs out on several of the harder
trails, and had a blast!  Mainly
went to check out our new
dual cases.  I have some more
pics if people are interested,
but can only attach 8 at a time!?

The blue '79 has:
Marlin built 2.28 x 2.28 x 5.29's x R151F 4.31 Turbo = 119:1

The tan '83 has:
2.28 & Marlin Adapter x 5.0 x 4.10's x 3.93 = 183:1

Both trucks were built with Marlin Parts, and they
work great!!!  THANKS MARLIN!!!  :turtle:

I've never been heralded as a superhero by anyone but my wife.   :adoration:

I wouldn't have bothered to post if that was my only comment, but it was the first thing I noticed in the pictures other than recognizing the Rusty Nail and I think part of the Proving Grounds.

:psss: Did you notice that one of the trucks was blue or is that obvious as well?

 haha, I know I get sh*t about them alot, but the
front lift is 6", and I wanted to use some super flexy 63"
Chevy rears, and they ride a little more flat, so had to make
up some difference.  They seem too long I know, but they
actually work fine.  :dunno:

:suprised: I know, it was sketchy at best.  That is
actually part of the trail though, and it IS a route.
That trail (not saying which one  :lipsrsealed:), is
marked out much the same as Hell's Revenge or
Golden Spike, with a small painted marker on the
slickrock for route finding........

I think having the underside of the bed chopped makes them look even longer.  I've come close, in Moab, to hitting my stock rear shackles on ledges so I'm surprised that you have not had any clearance issues along the way.

The '79 did much better in my opnion.  It is extremely well built with all the goodies that would be on any Toyota guru's wish list.  Mostly it gets over obstacles easier, because it has a front FJ high-pinion stuffed with 5.29's and an ARB.

The '79 has Marlin's 4" extreme-flex trail suspension kit, 5.29's, lockright in the rear, ARB (high-pinion) front, super strong aftermarket "Drewfield's", hi-steer, dual 2.28 cases, a turbo tranny, excellent running 22RE, front or rear mount receiver winch, 86+ IFS rear axle, 1.5" front spacers, Bilstein 14" shocks on hoops, 36x12.50x15 Super Swamper Radials.......the whole 9 yards.....

The '83 has no front locker.....but lower geared.  It has Pro Comp 4" front springs and 2" lift front shackles.

nothing....it's what I could find about 2 days before the trip, I had bald 35's on just a few days before we left and needed some tires bad, so all I could come up with last minute was mismatched.  They are all 35x12.50x15's though.  It actually wheeled and drove on the highway just fine with that set-up, even though they have different tread patterns.  We actually drove the trucks from Denver to Moab and back and wheeled the piss out of them, with no breakdowns or mishaps.  :crossed:  I am going to get x-terrains up front too and ditch the muds.

toyotanner

does the blue one have the marlin hanger too or no?
i like the black spray paint on the front fender of the blue one where you cut it mine has that too
