hey huys just looked at the 4runner sr5 today and im picking it up tomorrow its real clean here is whats on it its got a sun roof a/c, p/w, p/s, and a tilt wheel its got 5.29 gears and a new efi four banger out of a 94 4x2 truck with only 109k on that engine its got a centerforce dual friction clutch new bearings in the axles so its pretty much a new axle the raiido dosent work but thats ok cuz i got my brothers old one and this thing is sick ive got a pic of it but its jpeg and i dont know how to make it jpg so i can put it on here so if someone wants i can send it to them and have them post it for me and im getting shackels sometime this week for it so that will give it about a two inch lift and its got 31s on it right now

hummm thats weird cuz when i tired it, it would'nt let me but thanks for posting it and yeah its a nice truck the trans and transfercase have 260k on it though but it dosent look it at all its got lots of power too with the 5.29s

been working on it today and dribing it around the yard and its puttin out some white smoke dose anyone know why this is and how i can fix it thanks

Could be the headgasket or just condensation. Let it run for about half an hour and see if the steam quits

ok thanks ill go do that now and it could be condisation cuz it drips and also it wont start unless i give it a little bit of gas i was thinking it could be from when they put the new engine in they didnt put something back right that makes it fire right up

ok well its been runing for about ten minutes and it has seemed to have cleared up it still dose it when i rev it up about four time in a row but b4 it did if i just reved it once and the guy who had it b4 me just let it sit in the garage for two years i hope it isnt the head gasget

youll have to DRIVE it for about 10 minutes to get the exhaust up to opperating temp, just putting around the yard or letting it idle wont get the exhaust pipe hot enough to burn the water out of the pipe.

yeah well it wouldnt stop me either but i dont have my licence yet and my mom thinks there are cops everywhere even up here in the moutains were i never see any in my nehiborhood and if i drive it with out her letting me i will never get my licence so i would never get to drive it

yeah same with me i would have gotten my licence back in april instead of the 21st of this month but im still wondering why it wont fire right up when i turn the key like my brothers 89

Its called the black goo. It gets in your intake plenum and causes hard starting and sluggish performance. You have to take the intake manifold off of the rig to clean it but its worth it! Considering the miles your rig has on it Id just about guarantee that is at least part of the problem.

is that an easy job to take it off and what kind of tools do you need to do so

It's an easy job really but you do have an allen screw towrds the fron passenger side of the intake that you have to pull out along with the intake bolts or it will never come off. the bolt is about 4 inches long

ok well i just got from a drive with it and its still smoking and it smells like oil so dose that mean ill have to get a new head gasget and again is that hard and or there any speical tools needed and could it have anything to do with the valves cuz my dad did say id probally have to get a valve job on it

check your water level if it whent downt then your head gasket is prolly blown or your leaking somwhere else

could the fuel filter have anything to do with the truck not starting with out me giveing it gas? and if so isnt it located on the frame and they smoking did go away but it still kina stinks

Yes the filter could give you some grief in starting. Its under the intake manifold. The easiest way to get it is to take the passenger front tire off and pull the rubber skirting away from the body there should be a access panel that bolts on the inner fender. Take that panel off and the filter is right inside bolted to the block. Yes the job sucks but you dont have to replace the filter very often though.

ok well my dad just had a talk with the guy we bought it from and he said he got the fuel filter replaced when he put then new motor in and that was only 9k ago but he said he had the same promblems with starting and he took it in and the cold start injector work iraticly which makes sence becuase when i went to start it up this morning it didnt trun over for about 5 minutes of on and of cranking but once i finaly got it started up and i let it warm up for about 5 mins and then i turned it off and tired it again and it started right up with no use of the throtel and it still kinda smokes a bit but its only when its warm which makes since for the condisation and wt is the fuel filter on a 91 4runner 4cyl in the same place?
