Of course you can drive on the street with rears up front.  I have driven my new truck a lot on the street and it has a seriously soft suspension and has a nasty case of body roll if you take corners too fast.  But thats just like any rig once you lift it, just gotta remember that its not an indy car and you'll be ok.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

Add more leafs to the rear springs inthe front, and it will handle better. Also leave the overloadsin the chevy springs, and it will really reduce body roll on the street and help keep the tires out of the fenders.

I can cruse at 80+ in my 4runner, and it is dead stable with my 83/84 yota rear spring hybrid pack. I did the math, and figure I got about 3" of lift out of my spring setup when I put it on, and after wheeling it a few times, about 2.25".

My 90 has about 3" of lift on it and Im running 38x 12.5's on it now.  Ive got a set of 40x17 gumbos for snow tires that I know will fir with that much lift.  Its all in your setup.

Well right now i can probally run 32 inch tires not big but better than nothing. I do want to use the toy rear springs up front and some good springs in the back like aor, deaver, or mazda or wagonners, anyways thats want i want and i want to use custom mounts to utlizie 14" shocks then shackles from roger brown 4crawlers products and run whatever tire size i get i guess but i really want at least an 37" tire. :beerchug:

How do the rear toy springs move the front axle forward 1 inch when you put them on the front? Is it because the mounting hole is more to one side than the other, or because you mount to the rear-front spring hanger, and then make a new front- front hanger that sticks out some more (an inch or so forward).  Hope you know what i mean.

Yep the rears are shorter from the centerpin to the front mount by about 2"

Good deal, thanks white trash, i guess i could have measured the damn things myself...

So the jist here is to use :

Rear toys up front, and rear wagoneers in the back? Right?

Now what if your springs are like 3inch lift springs allready...can you still put the raers up front?...Would this cause too much lift?

Should you use a smaller shackle or something?

what do you mean   "huh?"

Doesn't that make sense? Makes sense to me, but i wrote it so....

Its hard to decipher what everyone is trying to say, with all of the different combos and all...gets all mixed up...

so
This is what is important:

Rear Toy springs are the same as Front waggy springs in length
Front Waggy Springs are 44044 or whatever the number is
Rear Toy Springs have the center pin offset 2 in.

So...Put the rear Toy springs in the front, for a longer spring and to move the axle forward for clearance, and put rear waggy springs (9 in longer than the toyota rear springs), in the back, for a longer, more travel spring.

Is this right...Makes sense, unless i missed something

So my question, is:

If your rear toy springs are lift springs ( a 3 inch arched lift in the sprng), than when you put them in the front, you will lift pretty high, because when you pput stock rears in the front it lifts it some right.

This shouldn't be this difficult.

Is there much of a difference between running front waggys up front, and running rear toy springs up front being that they are the same length...i would imagine the toy springs would be softer.

Thanks guys

You will need to weld on new hangers if you run the rear wagoneers but it is the setup I want to run :)

without crossover for the rears up front,  how do you get the springs on without shorteningthe drag link... can you just bolt them in and have the steering just fine???

As a general rule if you just put rears in the front without any springs added to the packs you will only gain about 1" of lift.  The added lift that people get is from adding arched springs to the pack from the rear to gain lift.  And yes as Brandon said crossover is pretty much mandatory, I got away with out it but i had to limit my droop due to a shortened draglink.  With the crossover setup I have now I have no need to limit anything but uptravel.

I was thinking the same thing about steering....i did a project last semeter where i designed steeriong arms and everything for high-steer...i measured the diameters of the 2 parts going into the top of the knuckle, with a caliper, the only problem is wear, and accuracy of the caliper, an my own measuring....if anyone knows what those 2 diameters should be (what the comapnis that make them use) that would be great.

I don't mind making new mounts for the waggys in the rear, that wouldn't be a problem.

The lift issue is of some concern...

My rear springs that are on my Toy now should be something like a 3" lift spring pack from some company (it was on there when i got it)....so  i figure i can just move them up front, and get a little more lift than if they were stock springs (maybe around 3-4 in).  I wouldn't add a leaf though, because i want them pretty flexy.  Does that sound logical....i guess ultimately i will know when i put them on.

Thanks guys

What you may end up doing is using the top couple of leaves from the rear pack and substituting some of the lower ones for flatter leaves.  The pack might end up being too stiff with it how it is now, but it may also be so soft it scares you.  My 90 leans right at an inch to the side just when I get in it.  It is freaking soft!  But its the kinda controllable soft, I dont have any axle wrap issues so far and it flexes pretty good.

probably about two inches but they are like 2" longer so you NEED longer shackles, come on by tomorrow and check out Chads 4runner, were having a 4th of July block party
