Could someone explain to me how the chevy swap, works, and what "Chevy" model, n year i would need, and if thats a good alternative??? Also hows the rear shock hoop things are they any good? help me out with a flexable, but cheap suspensions setup. Thanks for all the  :help:

I run Rancho 44044's up front. They seem to be very popular and cheap-combine them with 1.5" lift shackles and you got a 5" lift up front.  I run All pro 56" 5.5 inch rears and like them. They've sagged almost 2.5 inches though over time so I've added longer shackles. the whole setup seems to be real flexy.

Assuming you already have high steer, longer shocks/mounts, longer brake lines etc. A really cheap effective option is 79-88 toyota 4wd rear springs mounted in the front (need to add 2 or so leafs out of another pack, I personally put in 2 leafs out of an 84 4wd rear pack into my 83 pack (79-83's use a 18mm front hole like the stock yota fronts instead of the 14mm used on 84-88s). Also, you need <4" long shackles. I personally run 7" long shackles.
For the rear, Mazdas, 88-98 chevy rear springs, f-150's, etc all seem to be good choices. I have a set of 88-98 chevy 3 leafs with the stock overload, 6.5" shackles, and a 2.25" block, and they work great for how I use the truck.
Actually, the suspension is very well balanced on my truck as it sits, and I really recommend it.

how do you put on a wheel?

you unbolt it and bolt the new one on ;)

Wagoneer springs front and rear work great, stockers are fine..

Just need a longer shackle. You can do more but that will work..

They'll cost ya about $225 + shipping from summit.  Id use a 6-7" shackle.  Yes they can be used on the street.  Hell Kyota just drive them 1200 + miles w/o a problem

What kind of shackle though and if its 5" i could use 37" tires! But might hurt my stock axles. It sounds like a great idea anyone used the toyota rear springs in the front any success? I might want to try that too and how much lift would i get? And how would i put those on? Just curious thanks for your help.  :beerchug:

if you never drive off road sure ya can..

My axle is moved forward, dropped, with an extended shackle and a body lift. Fenders are chopped and the body is tubbed and they still rub HARD..

stock rears in front work great also.
need to add some leaves to them, found about a six leaf pack works best.
they move your axle forward 2" or so.
i run them and a 3" body lift and clear my 38"s with no rubbing.
i will post a poser pic when i get home.
unless brandon still has the poser shot of me and dave on the ramp at prairie city on his site?
both dave and i run toy rears up front.

they move your axle forward away from the firewall.
i didnt have to do any trimming since i have a body lift also.
but with no body lift you may need to make some room with a BFH.

heavy axles keep em all on the ground :)

I am 80" total width outside of tire to outside of tire which is about the same as a yota with 2" BS

Derek has chevy's in the rear too - I'm about to swap out my rear and go with wagoneers I think.

So the toy rear springs just bolt up to the stock front stuff? Your guys rigs look sick! I wish i was there too! So i can but rancho 44404  springs in the rear? THanks again for all your help and hope to get out there soon and wheel with you.

wouldn't put em in the rear, I'd use the rear springs for a wagoneer (fronts are 44044). I'll be using stock ones from the pick n pull. That white 4runner uses stock fronts from a wagoneer and stock chevy's in the rear - all pick n pull stuff.

either spring will bolt in the front. but will most likely need some lift shackles.
44044's in the rear would probably work ok, but i dont personally know anyone running them that way.
f-150 or chevy springs seem to be popular. the chevys are a little long and the mounts for them can get hung up.
f-150 springs are shorter than the chevy's and seem to flex real well in the rear.

they are a tad wider (2.36 or something vs 2.5") but I hear you can cram em in there. I used jeep hangers and since they are jeep springs they worked great.

There is some great info here: http://4x4spot.com/misc__spring_information.htm

the wagoneer front and the toy rear are the exact same length so it seems that replacing the stock rears with wagoneer fronts wouldn't do much..

Rear wagoneer springs are about 9" longer on the other hand..

I don't see the ford ones listed there though, I'd be curioust to know what their specs are..

The lift shackles up front aren't necessarily for lift - they are so the shackle doesn't bottom out against the frame since the springs are 3" longer than the stock toyota ones.

I know what i want to use now for my suspension i want to use my toyota rear springs up front 48" and mazda 52" or wagoneer 6 leaf 57" in the back. Whats the best shackles to use? For these springs let me know otherwise i might use teraflex relover shackles, bfe offroad shackles, joinny joint shackles from allpro, or 4crawler products shackles. THanks again for all your help. I would like to use 14" shocks with custom mounts. THanks again. See ya out their in the future i hope.  :beerchug:

depends on your budget, mine come in the way of a flat piece of steel cut to length with 2 holes drilled in them ;)

For rear springs i would go with 88-98 rear chevy springs.  They can lift it anywere from 1 1/2 inches to 3 inches depending on what they come off of.  The best would be a 3 leaf from a 2 wd.  The other ones will work too.  You can use the double shackle style with a longer shakle and gain 5 inches easily.  For the rear the cheapest would be your stock rear springs since you probly already have them.
