Toyota Firetruck - Oil and Water Tour
« on: Nov 15, 2007, 11:17:17 PM »
Here is something a little out of the ordinary I thought you Marlinites would enjoy....

This is a 2wd Japanese firetruck from Japan. This one was imported to the states by these two crazy professional kayakers named Seth Warren and Tyler Brandt. They are currently in between adventures but they took this toyota from Alaska to the tip of Chile, South America and back kayaking every gnarly river on the way. They are on a campaign to promote awareness of alternative fuels and are planning a world tour including africa and europe.

Here is their website:

http://www.oilandwaterproject.org/default.html

Anyway the truck had a 4 cylinder diesel in it with a 5 speed tranny and right hand drive. It has been converted to run on bio diesel and since it is a fire truck it has two 150 gallon tanks to hold enough fuel to cross several continents. Among some of the unique onboard equipment this vehicle has are:

Vegetable Oil Seed Press
WVO and SVO Filters
Video Presentation Table
300 Gallons of Fuel Storage
Rear Tent
Editing Suite
Satellite Internet
Upper Lounge
Airbags (set up by 4x4 Labs)

Anyway the guys currently have the rig at 4x4 Labs in Grass Valley, CA. The engine blew up and Luke and his gang are planning on dropping a new engine in it (current plans are some sort of 6 cylinder diesel, maybe dodge?), a 4WD conversion with a solid front axle and lift for some larger meats to help them navigate Africa and Europe with a little more ability than the stock 2wd form. Anyway i thought it was pretty cool as I had never seen one before. Check out their website they have some cool videos. I took this when I was at the Labs the other day, but I will be sure to snag a few update shots once it gets further progress at the shop.

Well........ ummmmmm.......... that's actually pretty cool!  Which diesel did it have in it?
RIP KYOTA

Give a man venison, he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to hunt Blacktail, he'll be frustrated for life!
