Where do I look now? The thing runs smooth when I give it gas, or let off. But in the middle I get a bad vibration. Is there any way I should go about trying to pin point it? Or just take the trans out and see if it is the input bearing?

W56 dual cases
CV in the rear drive shaft, it all feals tight.
Replaced the coupler, and changed rear case with anouther case I had in the basement.

Are we talking about driving down the road  :headscratch: u-joints , balance tires , bad tread on tire , bad pinion bearings , got your front hubs locked in , out put shaft bearing , bad motor mounts. Is the engine missing ? Need more info

Driving down the road. not noticeable till I get to 45 mph. bad at 60mph.

my next step is to take the driveshaft off and check it out. It feals fine on the truck, but it may have a small worn spot. I chechked the CV end when I had the Tcase off. But I didn'tt ake the pinion end off

Marlin

Paul, is your pinion pointing at the output flange of the rear case?
Sounds like you have a bad pinion angle.

I got a little angle in it, but not alot. I am not running a track bar anymore, but I do have a CV. How much should I have? don't I need some so when I get a little axle wrap I have 0 angle? I am running a mazda leaf pack.

If I remember right, Jesse @ highangle told me no more than 2* up or down but 2* up was better on the rear. I had my rear at about 8* down and got a similar vibration at speed to what you described.  I welded shims on the springs perches and it went away. Try to get your pinion pointing at the t-case

It's Fixed!!!

I checked the rear angle and it was about 15*. So I made some 10* shims and welded them to the axle. now I am around 5*. runs smooth on the highway. I'm happy!

I used an adjustable angle inder on the fins of the dif, to the centerline of the drive shaft. S
i could be off a little. But if it's running smooth who cares what is exact.

Right on gald to hear that  and I'm sure that somewhere along the way when it flexes the angle is probably right on
