I got a newer 22r out of a 1987 carbd truck and someone wants to buy it but they dont know if it will fit in their old 80 pickup.  Will the manifolds bolt right up????? :dunno:
ah the beauty of a cuttin torch

kyle_22r

don't think so.  if the truck has a 20R in it you can't swap the 22R and 20R intake manifolds, and the exhaust manifolds may line up but the 20R has 1 center stud hole while the 22R has 2

might take a trip to the junkard, you can probably get both manifolds for under 100$

if they want to put there stuff on it most likly not.  if they want to do a EFI swap then go for it
A good day working, that's just sick :reg:

deck heights are different, so no swapping timing covers or chains etc but I don't see why it wouldn't bolt up otherwise..

Yup basically like Brandon said.  If the buyer wants to use all the 22r parts then hell yea itll bolt right in.  Have no worries just keep all the 87 parts on it and everythings great.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

oh carb'ed truck :hammer: ok then as WT and Branndon say just use the 87 stuff on the eng. and the intake sould be ok. the exhoust?  I think it can be made to work but they mite have to drill out one hole.

I figured on them using the exhaust manifold off of the 87 ;)

But by the same token the 87 is has an "improved" emmissions package.

Yes it does. and if they use "all" the 87 stuff, computer incuded then they can use the manifold. other wise its a no go. here in cali. you are not aloud to "modifie" your emissions equpment.  at all! :shake_head:

butt agian if smog don't matter where they are, well never mind  :wink2:

when I used to do smogs for a car dealer here I once moved a vac. delay vavle from beteen the carb and TVS. to beteew the TVS and the egr valve. now it would not change a thing about "how" the systom worked. but we got "inspected" and geass what? yup , he said "thats not ok" and I had to move it back the way the factory made it!  :screwy:.

if the 80 had a 22r the manifolds will work,  otherwise no,  you cant use 20R intake on any 22R  and cant use a 20Rhead on the 87 block,  but then again    :flamer:
