Author Topic: How many miles on your V6 3.0? (Read 3204 times)

I have a 92 V6 with 152k and it needs it's second head gasket in 25k. It is an extremely small leak so I don't think it has done any damage. I'm wondering how much life the bottom end has left in it. $12k for a 3.4 swap is not an option.

240K miles on my 3rd 3.0.

bottom end still has plenty of life most likely

My uncle had a 1990 Toyota Ex cab 2wd v6 with no problems with it ever. Got the factory gasket recall and thats it. Only thing that ever broke was the clutch fan. By the time he retired it (got a 2000 Taco 2wd w/ a 2.4) it had 300k and semi low compression. That thing still got it good and ran top notch though.

Girlfriend's 92 V6 has 113,000 miles on it with the factory head gasket recall and it runs like a champ. Doesnt even burn oil either. My 22RE burns more than hers does!

I have roughly 192000 but only 60000 since having toyota do the recall but before the recall it ran well

This is most likely an issue of somebody getting in a hurry to get the job done and not properly checking or cleaning the heads.

I like to re-torque and readjust my valves, even if the headgasket says you don't have to !

1994 4Runner 205K, have had the factory recall done on it a more than a few mile ago. Runs strong but does burn a little oil.

I sold my 88 with 278K, it still passed smog and ran good.

225000 miles on my 88 and it's never had a headgasket replaced.

196,000 on mine with the original head gasket. Doesn't loose coolant or burn oil.

Mine is still going strong @ 322K (w/mainly street driving, and 31's). The auto trans has never been apart as well...

169k 2nd hg now has what we think is a burnt leaky exhaust valve on number 6. Still runs good Just on 5 cylinders. engine swap coming in spring

236,000 smoged today But I dont know the history, I know It had the heads redone with the recal.

My 92 4x4 3.0 has 278k and still going strong. I use it offroad during the hunting season regularly, and the previous owner goes through snow every year as he lives in snow-country towards Reno. It used to be his work truck as he was a contractor.

My dads 91 Ex cab 4x4 pickup 3.0 has 230,000 on it. He bought two years ago. He is runnin 33s and I think some 4.56 gears with the five speed. He put 50,000 miles on it and the only problem we've ever had with it is the valve covers are leaking a tiny bit of oil.

We've pulled trailers filld with trash. It moved 3 families last year and it also towed a 25 ft mobile home 150 Miles. It has less power than he would like, but it still runs great!

208,000 runs great. never had the heads off does not burn a drop of oil. always use mobil-1.
and as gut-less as all h_ll.
i did get 13mpg on a recent trip out of town though on 40in irocks

My bro's 91 4x4 w/ 31s has 339,xxx on the clock. Recall done at 185,000, at same time was the last oil change and plugs it got since. never failed smog. Its driven 200ish miles a day since 125,000 and still goin strong as ever today. Leaks 1qt oil a week and thats the only complaint. 17MPG
