I bent my axle...what now
« on: Oct 12, 2007, 05:20:10 PM »
so i blew up my rear diff, and while replacing it i noticed that the axle was bent, or appeared to be.

i did some investigating and the drivers side is bent about 1/2 inch

so i will replace it, but what im wondering is...ive owned my runner for 5 years, and never done anything that i think should warrent a bent housing...i wheel with my gearset, not the throttle

when i replace it i want to build the next as overkill....does anyone make gussets for a toy rear?? a truss??

pics of said products would be great, thanks guys

I think the t-100 housings use the Taco diffs.   You can get a replacment for the mini at the junk yard, make sure to get the IFS version its 3"s wider. or call Diamond and have one made for $800. It'll be the last time you have to worrry about bending it.

T100 axle is 60" wide, the 3rd is different, different bolt pattern and 14mm bolts. The axles are the same (30spline) as the 8" but longer. Here" a good wright up on it:

The T-100 diff is about 65"s wide and use's what everyone calls the 8.4 or 8.25" diff. Yes Mike at ORS does run one under his giant Toy.

CrawlerDan    if your sh t keeps bending, which toy housings are known todo go with a Diamond, I know it $800. But you can have it built to stock width and minimize cost. And never have to worry about it again.

well i tried to draw a pic...but i suck

so i will be doing a truss over the top, u bolt eliminator kit, larger wider perches that spread load over more space, and will half tube the lower axle tube with 1/4 wall 3 inch tube where it typically bends
