AX-15 re-gear

I was on the NAXJA board and there was a guy wishing for a deeper 1st gear in his AX-15. I understand that the AX-15 and RF-150 are basically the same (both having a 3.83 1st gear?) Now, would it be possible to have it re-geared to the Turbo's 4.30 or the import 5.15 1st? I suggested that this might be possible, is it? I'll bet alot of Jeep guys would be interested in such a mod. Think of it 4.30 or 5.15 1st and a 4:1 t-case  all with no increase in drivetrain length ----------Hans

I too would be interested in the answer to this question as well.  I have a few friends who drive Jeeps that might benefit from some Marlin purchases...

This is about the only help I got is Marlin has a way to stack toy t cases in the jeeps now ill get you a link. Not sure about the ax15 first gear though

Search around...I think oldyellercj was gonna look into it as a long term goal in his daughters cherokee.  You have to replace the rear housing on the trans with one from a toyota.

5.15 gearset in an ax-15

I have been thinking about it more and trying to figure some things out.

Marlin! Have you tried to do this yet?

One snag I see is that the turbo and ax-15 have different input shaft lengths.

Pre 1995 R150\R151 = 6.5"
1996 up Toyota R series = 7.5"
AX15 = 7.875"

Anyone?
