remove the oilfilter and there should be i think a 22mm nut . remove it and that adapter for the turbo cooler should come off and leave a mount for the oil filterbtw yes thats a 22RTE blockand yes with a carb intake from a 85-89 22R you can make it a carbed engine, BUT its gonna be a dog since the turbo engines had a lower compression whats wrong with the turbo and cpu ??
it wont have proper compression... that block was designed to function with a turbo......regular 22R and 22REs operated at a higher compression.so making that TRE a Carb.... will be very doggy and be like driving my old 22RE with bad rings, fouled spark plugs, and running on 2 cyls.i have driven one that was converted before...... POS! i would HIGHLY recomment not doing it.clean up the turbo system.and rebuild the original system and engine.
On the left side of the block at the front near the bottom there is a rectangular casting which should say 22R, 22RE or 22RE-T.
