8inch VS 10inch wheel looks.
« on: Sep 16, 2007, 05:23:47 AM »
Getting near the end of putting my 94 4WD back together.  It is all stock and I put on a set of bushwacker extend-a-fender flares.  They say the cover an additional 1.5".  I am going to get a nice set of rims and tires in the spring, I'm going to run 31x10.5 tires but I want them to fill out the fender flares decently.  I'm curious if anybody has run these flares with an 8 or 10 inch wide wheel and has pics.  This is all for looks :hammerhead: but I just want it to look right.  Also what sort of backspacing is typically used on a IFS truck with 31's?  Thanks again.

I would run 8" wide, I have the cutout flairs on mine and I run 10" wide wheels and they cover just right, but I run a 12.50 tire and cutouts will cover 3".

Run 8" wheels for 10.50 wide tires.
Run 10" wheels for 12.50 wide tires.

Or run 8" wheels for 12.50 wide tires and you'll have some poor man's bead locks.

If you run the 10.50 tire on a 10" wheel, the edge of the rim might stick out past the tire, and be prone to dents, dings, knocking weights off, etc. Probably not a problem with steel wheels, but you could ruin an aluminum wheel just by "mall crawling".

for 10.50 wide tires, I would definitely go with the 8 inch rim. It will look better in my opinion, plus all the stuff YotaJosh said. Post pics when you get it done!

I'll post some pics, the truck will be together in the next few weeks but no nice rims and tires until spring.  Vermont winters kill nice rims so it'll just be the steelies until then.
