What are the plans to keep the "tailgate" latched? If you decide to use some sort of a OEM latch, your tubing on the tailgate will need to be slightly narrower than the bedsides. :twocents:

I like the bumper but you should add a recovery/tow point.  :twocents:

I like the tailgate, you should cut some sweet plates to insert in the space of the rear tailgate!  Have you figured out a system for the tailgate to latch it?  The rear bumper almost needs someing blocky to go with the square bed and flat fenders.  or maybe a square shaped bumper out of tubing to keep hte tube theme?

On secont thought maybe the tailgate would look better with two bars in the center instead of one, break the space up a bit.

the gate and bed look very utilitarian, like an ausie ute, have you thought about using latches off an early toyota pickup?? the ones where there is a latch on each side

Maybe you could use a small solenoid (or two) to release whatever latch mechanism you end up using. :headscratch:

im tryin to go for a indestructible ,useable ,protective bed.the bumper will have shackle mounts on each end.and tubing around it.heres the tail light mounts ,ready for inspection. AJORDAN1975 ill let ya know when im headed to houston,he lives in  Leporte.as far as a latch i think im gonna use a toggle latch..i think

if it isnt too late, i would run the diamond plate facing out... that way the inside is smooth... i know the first time i would try to put something in the bed, it would get all scratched from the diamonds or get stuck....

My only concern with the tubing that supports your taillights is they might be an anchor if they come into contact with a rock or tree. :dunno: How about flush mounting the lights under the tailgate. :twocents:
