Topic: Fuel Gauge Ohms

On my 86 4runner im thinking about putting in new gauges and I need to know how many ohms the stock sending unit puts off at Full and Empty so I can get the correct gauge in it. Looked in the Chilton manual and I couldnt find it.

Does anyone know how many ohms it puts off at full and at empty?

From an 86 Toyota FSM

Full is 3 ohms +2 or -3
1/2 is 32.5 ohms +4.8 or -4.8
Empty is 110 ohms +7.7 or -7.7

So would something like this be fine or would it be inaccurate:

Range: Empty=0 Ohm, Full=90 Ohm

Crap I just realized it was the other way around. I think there was another one that might work....

Well theres these two:

Range: Empty=240 Ohm, Full=33 Ohm
or
Range: Empty=73 Ohm, Full=10 Ohm

Which one would be the best?

Neither of those will work with the factory sender.

I want to say it's 42 ohm empty 0 ohm full.

My RCI cell has a GM (0-90 ohm) sender and the fuel gauge reads backwards and doesn't start to move until you're at half a tank, and then it drops like a rock! Interestingly, if you hook it up backwards, it always shows full and the empty warning light is on ...
