tranny crossmember

i have a 82 toy and would like to throw this w56b tranny out of a 87 toy, can this be done and does any one have any crossmember ideas.  please help need to go wheelin soon the bug is a heavy burden

one of my buddies had the same fitting issue I think you have, he welded a plate to his stock crossmember but I don't think it's going to last long 

Budbuilt sells one that can be mounted to your framerails so that it can accomodate the longer tranny using u-bolts I think
