trouble ATV winch mounting wrong angles/dangles
« on: Aug 09, 2007, 04:40:42 PM »
OK i need a second opinion befor i start cutting and grinding / weld stuff

in the perfect world the wench should mount like the first pic

Now this is a warn bumper  warn mounting plate - honda rincon    warn wench ........  :ladys-man:

my problem is where it gets mounted
1. the cable is at a 46% up angle 2 the farlead
2. it rubs/lays on the  hole for the wire rope

now if i cut the mount so the cable dose not hit the mount  it still is at a 45% angle 2 the farlead   wich meas all the force will be put on the farlead/2 bolts

so what are my option ???  can i flip the wench   so the rope is on top   but then it would be backwords up side down  ............. not like it  :headshake:  not one bit

:dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:

unless you can fab up a diff angled bracket to fit in there across those to brace bars, it almost looks like thats how its gonna have to go.

If the cable was rewound the other way it would be better, but the controlls would be backwards. In would be out and vise versa.

The position of the fairlead makes no sense to me.  If you have to pull something upwards you are going to bend/brake your mounts (not to mention fray your cable).  Doesn't look like it is the right kit.  Seems like the fairlead should be on the lower bolt holes, but then it wouldn't work.  Man, I really think it must be the wrong kit (everything is hooked up per intructions right...gotta ask).

well the mount plate can only go in one way   do 2 frame / holes lineup  as for the right parts

they came off a 03 rincon  mine is a 04   now i looked up the parts on the warn site  03-05 is the same

/\ now if what i have  is what the site says ............ :dunno:    they should be /\

thats what has me all :willynilly:    it should me mounted and wired and working by now.     instead of this post
I have no problem making a plate/grinding/welding   BUT  it's should be the right parts i should not have 2 :tantrum:

my buddy who i got the stuff off of needs 2 call me back  i calls 5 times and left messages :whip:
he made a custom mount for his ATV and his brother now has a custom mount for his Rincon <-- stuff came off of

well, I guess all I can say is grind a hole for the cable to go through (I wouldnt extend the hole...I would make a separate one...I am just thinking about strength).  Then move that fairlead down to the lower holes (I would just watch out for rocks and stumps...so you don't damage the fairlead).  Sorry this isn't workin' out for you...your right, you really shouldn't have to make any changes to a design that was made FOR the wheeler.  Poopie.

Joe  the winch motor need to be on the other side of the atv,  leave the bracket  like it is  butflip the winch so the motor is on the other side,   this  will keep the cable  going the right way on the winch BUT  will move it  to where it need to be
