Getting ready to start the next phase of my toy build and decided to go big or go home, the parts I've go so far are- Front D60 from an 80 Chevy 1 ton, D70-2u from a 06' E-350(Wide as hell 87" out side tire to out side tire), set of 5 39" red lable Krawlers on Walker beedlocks, and a w56 with t-case left over from when I swaped in an R-151.

My plan is to run a 3.4 with 5.38 gears in the axles, and 3 link front with 16" air shocks, and 4 link rear with 18" air shocks, shooting for as low of CG as possible, 24" frame hight, with 39" tires.  front is goint to be tight  :disturbed:

back to the main question, AW4 with D300 and 4:1 gears or stick to my R151 with dual ultimate, pricing is going to be about the same  :crossed: , the auto set up is about $350 more, but I can sell my toy suff to offset the diff.

Stick with the manual tranny, as there are reports of the auto tranny's running out of fluid when at extreme angles, due to a large cavity at the rear of the transmission.  And the fact in double low, the brakes can't stop the rig with a auto!  You gotta slip it into Neutral when you want to stop.

This was explained in the 4wdtoyotaowners magazine when they did a SAS, in a 4runner (zebra stripe) with dual cases, and they explained the problems they ran into, because of the auto tranny!

And you can't go wrong with the R151!!
Miss ya Dean (4THEWKN) & Kyle (KYOTA)!!

Thanks for the reply, but if I go with the auto, I won't be running dual case's just using a Jeep Dana 300 with 4:1 gears, my buddy's 4runner(Volcom on this board) in double low with a w56 and 22re can't stop in gear :eyebrow: .  and yes I really can't go wrong with my R151.  Just seems like I change my mind every other day on wich would work better for me.  :dunno:
