Topic: transmission whine

I just strated driving my 82 pickup today, and noticed that the transmission is making a whining creaking sound. I dont have a cover over my tranny and t-case levers, so the sound is pretty noticeable, even while driving with no exhaust.

I went and bought some gear oil tonight, and will chek my fluid level tomorrow, but could it be something else?

Its a 4 sp tranny

Is the noise different under accleration/deceleration?

Quieter in 4th?

Pop out of 4th gear?


(I just rebuilt mine, and these were symptoms....)

it doesnt pop out of any gear. It just make the noise driving of the truck happens. But it gets louder the faster I go

same problem, except mine gets quieter in 4th and louder when i let off the gas and use my tranny to slow down.  is it the clutch barrings?

nope,  yours is transmission bearings;   the input shaft bearing will be the worse

Well, im gona drain the tranny and refill it and see if anything cahnges
