Can i have 4:56s in the rear and 4:88s in the front?
will it mess anything up?
you may get about 2 to 3 revolutions out of it before it binds up the tcase and.........
BOOOM!!!
It won't take very long to find out, you may get about 2 to 3 revolutions out of it before it binds up the tcase and.........BOOOM!!!
wrong!its rough.. when i first did my sas, all i had layin around were blown up 4.10 3rds... and my rear was 4.88, so i just left the 4.10 in the front n rocked out, just never used 4wheel until i ABSOLUTELY needed it.... it binds pretty bad, but it never broke anything... it was like that for a year, locked in the rear, on 36s....held up just fine..it worked out tho, since the rear was just a tad slower than the front, it, persay, "dragged" the rear.... and it never went over 10 mph in 4wd...
Right! With enough slip or lack of traction, gear ratio becomes more irrelevant (between front and rear, that is). As the surfaces become increasingly tractable then they become more crucial. Give it enough time on a hard enough surface and you could have problems.
Its easier to keep matching front and rear gears that way they get equal wear and tear
