Thinking about running 35s that i scored for free in a dumpster.  Check this.  I was throwing my old 29s away at les shcwab or whatever its called since they collect tires, and i see 4 boggers sitting there.   about 45% tread and a shi*load of nails in em.  Take em home and patch em up and there just sitting there.  My trucks pratically a stock 82 with the L52 and the 4.11 gears in it.  If i run the 35's whats gonna blow first if i dont change the gearing???

I think the only thing you'll blow is the birfs, but if you set your steering stops conservativly (sp?) you'd be allright. Other than that its gunna suck with stock gearing, time for dual cases and R&P gears!

I think the first thing you would blow, actually not blow, would be your clutch.  It will burn and then by by power untill it cools down.  Even with 5.29's it would still burn.  I wouldn't think the birfs would brake unless you have a heavy right foot.

I also think clutch is going to be the weak point for now..Get a marlin clutch and some gears..Good work on the score of frre tires!

I would have to agree about the clutch, and the 5.29's will make all the difference ,and yotaboy79

Lets go break somethin "GO NAVY"

I had a similar setup. With stock gears, I considered it dangerous offroad because of a lack of control. 4.7's fixed my problem, and the truck is still better geared than a 5.0 mustang.

Hyena

Do you still have the stock push-pull steering?  I have heard of people breaking the ball part of it off when it flexes to much.  I still have it so i will be wereing about it also.

Jared

yah the ball parts breaks thats why you always carry spare j-arms and a tie-rod when you go wheelin.  if you bring some j-arms up the the rubicon theres always people willing to trade you for a bear or something.....
