5.29 gears

Just to be clear, Yukon does not make gears. They are simply sets of Richmond, Precision, or US Gear gears (there may be others in there too) in a Yukon box. I would not put the Richmond gears in the same class as Precision and USGear, so there is no way I would say Yukon is the best.

As for what to buy, spend the money on a great setup - that will make more difference than what brand the gears are.

I have 5.29's and 35's.....plenty of power......next set will be 37's I think

Ummm .. it's common knowledge, and not "hidden" in any way. Open a box of Yukon gears and see what's actually stamped in the side of the gear.

Call PORC and talk to Alex about the guy who bought Yukon gears and returned them because the gears said "Richmond" and how they had to open every box until they found some Precision Gear ones.

529 gears are really strong I run a set in one of my 4runners and i think i have 38sx on then and on occation when i drive it on the freeway they work great i still go 80mph

So what company's makes gears cause it would be a huge cost for me to be sending the gears back from Hawaii cause I received a set of Richmond's.  Richmond, Precision, or US Gear gears are there any others that you would recommend.

Precision it is then cause I want to do it right the first time no sense in wasting money.

The best gears in the world will frag easy if not setup right! Be sure to put as much (or more) research into the install!

5.29's are not strong in anyways. unless you have them cryo'd. buy some and send to bobbylong, or performance cryo.

my yukon 5.29's are great there is no problem with strength if they are set up properly and broken in the same. If you think they are weak maybe you had them installed (or you installed them) incorrectly!BTW 5.29's spool and dual cases on 36x13.50 IROK's never had a problem.

Ive broke a set of 5.29s with my 37s after 2 years of wheelin and 3 years of DDing.

Toyota axles suck, just keep the money you have for the set of 5.29s and put that into a set of 5.38s for some 60s or something.

What ever! i had 5.29's and a spool in the front of my Toyota with stock axles (altough i do have longs now), dual cases and 36's never broke anything! Although i have seen many 44's and even a 60 or 2 blow u-joints when i drove by them at the hammers. I am not saying that Toy. axles are perfect or that a 60 is junk but to say toy axles suck is just ignorant. Its a poor operator that blames his equipment
