5.7:1 inchworm gears?
« on: Jun 01, 2007, 09:03:14 PM »
I am switching out my 6.4 sami case for a pair of dual divorced toy cases. I really wanted the extra gearing of the 5.7 gear from inchworm, because my motor make almost no torque :hammer:. But after reading the massive tcase info thread or whatever, I am scared to see what the 5.7 gears look like. I know I will probably be ok in my sami considering I have low power, but I would like to later on put maybe a 20 valve 4age (160hp) with a corrola trans, and dont wanna worry about it. So basicly I am just wondering how weak the 5.7s actually are?

i havent seen them Jeff  but  i personally  cant  imagine how they could get anything  more than 4.7  into a  toyota case :dunno:   considering  you have to clearance a  toy case  for the 4.7's

no, inchworm offers 5.7 transfer case gears

Applications for all 79-95 Toyota pickups and 4Runners with gear driven transfer cases.  See our V6 Adapter for V6 aplications. Some housing and shift rail clearancing may be needed for 4:1 gears while clearancing definitely will be required for 4.7:1, 5:1, or 5.7 gearsets.

I've talked to Jim about them and they seem pretty sound.
They just require a very little bit more grinding than the 4.7's do on the shift rail.
There is also a thread on PBB about them. http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=554130

If you really want to know more, call Jim.

that was a thread i started a while back, and he is right call Jim.  i posted my answers up in the thread and they sound like a good gearset to me.  the only reason i dont have them in my truck right now is because i dont have any more money, but when i get enough i plan on purchasing them.
