its my other hobby.   



we have been racing this car for over five years now.  so this year we thought we might update the cage.


this is what we started out with.   '67 camaro



so to update it we cut the back half off right behind the driver seat and started all over. 





it took me and my dad three weekends to get it ready but here itis now

so the body is jsut a shell now? is it fiberglass or steel? dirt track?

we run it on the dirt track in the street stock class.  the body is all original (from other cars) steel parts and no fiberglass.  


by rebuilding it we took out over 600lbs of weight to bring it to 3015 with a full tank of gass and me in it

*destroked 353ci (425hp with 2 barrel)
*3speed tranny (out of a van)
*ford 9inch with 7.16:1 gears w/spool and cromolly axles (hit the wall and broke one on Monday)
*tube A-arms in the front
*custom cage

7.16 gears holy moly!!!!!!!!!

that thing must top out at 60 mph!!!! and do 0-60 in like 2 seconds, lol (exaggerated figures but wow thats low gearing)

i would think with a spool in the rear it would slow you down a little in the corners.

i dont know, i think when you factor in the drifting that happens in dirt track, i doubt the spool would slow it down, and having all available power to the ground would be a better tradeoff

with the 3speed it tops out around 80 mph, but that is plenty fast enough on a 1/3 mile dirt track
