Help, noob here
« on: May 10, 2007, 06:54:49 PM »
Alright, here it is, i just got a killer deal on an 84 4runner. The body is in rough shape though, but the frame is good.  It is worth saving though, the fame is good, and most of the floors are ok.  It has a 6inch lift (so the guy said, but it has lift blocks in the rear, so maybe 2 inch springs in the rear, and 4 inch blocks, that will have to go).  Although the lift issue is another thread.  Back to the body, I need to start junk yarding to get some parts.  i need both side doors, a rear tailgate with window, rear fenders, and drivers side rocker panels.

So, for the doors, fenders, and tailgate, what years toyota's can i get parts for that will fit my 84 runner?  For the fenders and tailgate is it just easier to get new replacement's?  If so, where is a good site to get body parts from.  I need to cut out the rockers and weld in new one's.

thanks for any help on this.  i have been searching and i can only find some front fenders, and thats it!

Don't waste your time replacing those rockers with more rust and dent prone sheet metal. Cut the as high as you can and weld in some tube for a stronger ore trail friendly rocker/slider combo. :twocents:

It has rock sliders, so i am not worried about banging up the rockers.  i just want to get it back to a nice and clean look.

question, will an 88 2wd yota truck's doors and fenders work on my 4runner.

I would try finding a decent Wrecking yard that isn't too far away as well as the forum for parts.   I'm lucky there is one a few miles from my house that always has a ton of toyota stuff.  :yesnod:

good luck, and congrats on your new purchase!

When you got to ask, do yourself a favor and part it out. These truck that need parts consume alot of time and life in general. If you love it its to late.

Good luck

Regular truck doors won`t fit a 4 Runner, 4 Runner doors are longer than regular truck doors.

So which one is it!  Will all 84-88 truck and runner doors work, or will only 84-88 runner doors work?  I am assuming the fenders out of either will work.
