has anyone or anyone know if it is possibly to swap the 88-89 supercharged mr2 motor into an 84 4runner..thanks for the help

anything is  possible  but  you  dont want  a engine  like that in a 4runner,

the 22R  has  low end  torque,  the mr2  is what a 4agze ??

thanks guys, i was just wondering i will most likely just rebuild the 22r in my 4runner. It just has no guts with the the 36's even with the 5.29. I guess you can expect that with 240+ on her. And i need to save a little more for the 3.4. but i was looking and wondering if the if this would be a quicker straight bolt in and if the trans matched.

79coyotefrg

no  the  trans  wont match

your  probably not  getting 80 hp  with  240K  on the ticker

rebuild  with some quality parts  and  a LCengineering cam  and  130-150hp  is  no problem

Ditto.  The mr2 engine has no bottom end.  You pretty much hafta stay atleast mid-range to be productive, and that's in a car that probably weighs around 1500lbs less or so.  Samurai maybe, but 4runner would be disasterous.  You'd be far better off finding a good taco/t100 3rz to swap in, much better power than the 22re and a FAIRLY easy swap.
