ok, so i am going to pull the 22re out of my '84 and put it in my '83, and will be switching to a fuel cell.  according to pirate i can use an external fuel pump from a celica http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=316661 for the swap, but after going to 3 salvage yards, not finding an 88-89 celica, then going to an import specialty used parts place only for the guy to tell me i'm crazy and all the celica fuel pumps are all in the tank.  i would buy a new pump but am kinda on a small budget right now.  help me because im tired of searching.

so whats the question? if you need to have an interal or external pump or what? or if the celicas had an internal or external? i would beleive pirate long before i would believe some guy @ a parts store...

i know that summit has some fuel pumps that are pretty cheap... i have heard of people using walbro or holley here....

i know i need an external.  just wanted to know what i can use for an external without spending a lot of cash.  cheapest one i have found on summit was a MSD pump for ~95 bucks.  85 PSI.  everything cheaper was around 5-6 psi

Actually, NAPA has an external, inline pump designed for such applications.  I don't know off hand what an RE requires as far as fuel pressure, but we have  P5000 and P5001 which are designed for an EFI or MPI engine in a non-FI vehicle.  The P5000 is rated at 22-75 PSI and 50GPH.  The P5001 is rated at 9-22 PSI and 50GPH.

edit: a quick trip thru my catalog here at home says the RE pump is rated 70 PSI and 60GPH...
