t-case gaskets
« on: Mar 24, 2007, 11:47:40 AM »
does anyone know if you can just buy one certain t-case gasket? I need the one that is for the coverthing on the front output. I tried makin a gasket with some silicone but it seems like it didnt work because when i put oil in the case i have a slow leak. Maybe do i just need a cetain kind of silicone? i was thinkin maybe the reason the silicone wasnt working is because i am runnin synthetic oil and people say that it wears out gaskets and silicone. Just wonderin if anyone has any ideas or suggestions

Thanks
Dan

sythetic oils don't cause leaks, they just find them better than regular oils do. I used silicon (black) because I din't want to make another run to the parts store and it works fine. I would just suggest re-sealing it and letting the silicone set up for a good 20 min (or until it gets a slight skin) before bolting them together. Aslo maybe wait through the afternoon or untill the next day before you refill the case.

Anaerobic sealer works great also, but it's a little pricey compared to sillycone.

Thanks guys. ya i did some research and gray and black seem like the best bet. i used the high temp copper cus thats what i had and i let it sit for about 45 minutes and then bolted together and i put fluid in the next day. didnt work  :shake_head: , but i will definately try black or grey cause i have heard multiple people say it works . I have never heard of Anaerobic sealer before. maybe ill check it out but i am on a tight budget so you know how it goes. Thanks Again!  :beerchug:
