mitre saw as a chopsaw

can you use a mitre saw for wood as a chopsaw for metal? of course you would get a metal blade....

As long as the blade RPM exceeds or is equal to the Saw RPM :thumbs:

I would not advise using a sliding compound miter though. :nerv:

It will melt the plastic guard and any other plastic parts.

yeah I would advise against it, there are probably pretty good reasons why they don't make chop saws that look like miter saws. Alot of heat, long continues cuts, holding the material down, vibration, etc.

done did it, but only on like 1/8" angle iron and like 1/8" flat bar. I had a old b.d. I had no propblems.
