Stiffned up the XJ uni-body

With a set of Frame StiffnerZ from T&T customs.
These have been sitting in the garage for a month now, got going on them yesterday morning. Ive been waiting to do these so i can start my cage next.
Here is how my rockrails mount to the uni-body 12 self tappers.

We decided we would weld them to the stiffnerz instead of drilling through 3/16 plate.
Started removing the rockrails.. Then removing the crossmember and supporting the tranny.

mocked up the stiffnerZ and marked where to grind. We didnt grind off all the undercoating, only where we were going to weld.

Once we grinded is was time to weld.

Mounted the parking brake cables back in the same location

we are doing the same thing to my buddy cherokee right now.....its a shame to do all that work to get it the same as a frame truck...he cant open his doors or tailgate on the trail even when he's mildy flexed out

true, but what are you gonna do.... wheel a toyota ?? No thanks...    It's as close as we XJ guys will get to a frame. To bad i didnt do this along time ago before i twisted up the uni-body but oh well... better late then never..

I had the same problem when I wheeled my 00 xj for the first time about three weeks ago, I opened the hatch to get out a tow strap only to find the stupid thing wouldnt close, let me know if the supports helped you with things like that

that is great work again man.    I would follow your post to a t but the unibody frame is almost bent up to the cab ha ha .  I might have to give it a shot with what I got left.  If the doors wont close, take them off ...!

I swapped tires half way through the install...

The 1st pic is the best pic i had of how the rock rails mounted... Its when i first installed them about 5 years ago
