This project was started last year in the middle of march with the goal to have the truck ready for the tinbenders jambo (end of April.)  March of 05 I was selling my 98 SAS'd 4 runner to fund the new project and because I didnt wan't to cry when I smashed in one of the doors on it. My buddy, Pat A.K.A. jewball, bought the 4 runner. We worked out a trade where I got his complete 92 4cyl. flatbed and an ex-cab with a siezed 3.0 (stock) and some cash. Since he had already signed up for the jambo, I figured I had aleast 3 1/2 weeks to build a rig and get it to the hammers. :yesnod:

here is pic of the flatbed when I started...

The flatbed had all the parts i needed for the ex cab. here are the parts I used
-22re motor, smog legal header, new timing chain with metal guides and K&n air filter
-turbo tranny, dual cases with 4.7s and twinsticks
-83 front axle, sky truss, 5.29s and ARB oh and longfields
-rear axle is a 86 with full float using 85 toy spindles and brakes
- i already had a set of new 37 MTRs to ride on too

there were a few other things I wanted to do including a bed bob, new exhaust and bumpers and winch.

the first thing i did was cut the IFS out, Then i had to make some motor mounts for the 4 cyl. I measured from the crossmember forward and set the mounts, then finsihed the front axle. It was easier to weld everything without the motor in. I used TG 4" springs in the front. The rear I used 63 chevys and mounted it all with sky chevy swap kit. here is what the truck looked like when it rooled out of the shop.

I got the high angle drivelines done 10 days before the jambo with just enough time to take it to the snow and make sure everything worked. I found a used warn x8000 on pirate with synthic rope and made a bumper for that. I bobbed 10" out of the bed and made a swing out tire carrier for the rear and some sliders in the week before the hammers.

This winter I have done a little work to it... I recently dovetailed the bed 15" including the tailgate. It is now "smurf" blue with Line-X in the bed and exo caged with hydro assist. here are some pic from last weekend at moonrocks. heres a picture of the 4 runner i sold jewball too

yeah I do work at line-x. Its probably around 550-600 to spray a 4 runner. Thats with the seats, seatbelts and cage/rollbar out of it. As far that tar crap on the floor, it seems to chip out with a chisel and hammer when its cold other than that its a pregnant dog to get out. If you can get most of it out we sand it all done with 40grit anyway so it doesnt have to be perfect. Give us a call if you want to do it 343-3636
