Thanks for the info.I found a used warn xd9000 w/rope that I made a offer on,so we will see?
i run a warn m8000 on my 85 runner a friend has a m6000 on his 84 toy p/u and we both love em his m6000 will not pull a burried chevy in snow but an 8000 will. I would go no smaller than a 8000lb winch, Iand as my friends at fwp say "friends dont let friends buy mile markers." I have had a Mile Marker SE9500 for a year and It is the most powerful winch I'v ever used. The Warn 8000 can't touch it. My warn 8,000 had a solonoid failure so I gave it away and bought the M.M., which I outfitted with ORO x-line. This bad boy has a 3/8" x 100 ft. rope. The warn had a TINY rope by comparison. That alone says something to me... Sure the M.M. may be a chicago electric which are very inexpensive, but this just means both a front and rear winch are just over the price of that Warn.
I would hope you have zero issues with a new winch. Let me know how its held up in a couple years though, those T-max are made in Austrailia or something They build recovery gear right over there...

I have not read the entire thread so maybe this has already been said...I don't think I have ever met someone on the trail with a WARN winch that didn't work. I have met several people cursing their other brands saying they would spend the money for a WARN the next time. It only takes one failure to wish you got the best. It all depends on how much money you have to spend, how you plan to use it, and how much you are willing to risk to save a few coins. There are certainly other quality brands that may perform flawlessly, but I think a WARN is a sure bet.My dad has a Harbor Freight on his Blazer and it worked great the one or two times he has used it, but he wouldn't trust it if it was used every weekend.
