Canadian 1982 Pickup Rebuild/Buildup

So the saga started in August of '05.  I bought an 82 long bed pickup for $1100 CAD.  All I knew about Toyota trucks was that they ran forever, suffered from a major rust problem and that they were more or less indestructible, so I bought it.  Drove it for 3 months and then decided to take it on a bit of a camping trip with some friends.  Since I live in BC, Canada, and only have my N liscence (for those who don't know this means, it means that you can't drive with any alcohol in your body, you must display a green N on the back of your car, and have only one passenger), well I had two buddies with me and got pulled over.  Long and short of it, the cop gave me a ticket for the extra passenger,and a fix it ticket for: no emergency brake, massive oil leak, loose steering, busted tail light, high beams didn't work, holes in the floor, bed sides held together with duct tape, liscence plate in the back window, and the tires stuck past the fenders.  That was a bad day.  To top it off the fix it ticket was the kind that said that I couldn't drive the truck until all of the stuff was fixed.  I took the insurance off of the truck and decided it was time for some work. That's when I found . 


At this point the only modifications were the 2 awesome yellow off road lights.

This is when the truck was completely stock, I had never done any 4x4ing and I had only had my drivers liscence for about 2 months, so I thought I was the tits.

The truck sat through that winter and then I got to work on it in the spring of 06'.  I fixed the high beams, adjusted the e brake, and decided it was time for the bed to go.  I also took off the valve cover and realized that the timing chain was so loose it could almost skip a link and had been happily chewing away at the head and timing chain cover. I made the decision to just go ahead and pull the engine and do a rebuild on it.  This was about the time when I started thinking that, as cool as stock suspension is, it was time for a raise. So... off with the suspension as well.

Anyway... In august of 06' I bought another (this would bring my car collection to 4 by age 18, also have a 1971 Chevy Nova and just sold my 1977 Malibu) Toyota, this one being an 83 2wd to fix and sell. I initially thought the 2wd had a blown head gasket but turned out to be a really loose timing chain ate through the guides and timing cover.  On the 4wd I also got rid of the black color.  I accidentally spilled some paint thinner on the truck while cleaning something and realized that the undercoating paint job could be taken off fairly easily so I also spent a few days getting rid of that. That pretty much brings my build up to date.  I am currently fabricating a front hanger, rear hangers and rock sliders

I want to keep a bed on my truck but finding a toy bed that is in usable shape where I live is next to impossible. Does anyone know of or has pictures of other truck beds that don't look out of place with the toy cab. Or anyone one with other bed ideas let me know.

I like the idea of f-150's in the rear with rears up front.  I have heard too much bad about the 63" chevies being too long so i think f-150's solve the "too long" and the "I don't have a lot of money" problems.
