3rz conversion quote.
« on: Jan 11, 2007, 02:55:17 PM »
all right i am in the process of refinancing my house and that means i will finally have enough to complete my ninja build. so what i want to know is how much somone would charge to do a  complete 3rz conversion? i would love to do it my self but i bearly have time to do any thing. i would like to just drop it off and come back when it is done and drive it home. just looking for a price not sure if it would be reasonable or not yet that is why i am asking?

Call this guy, he posts here sometimes.  He can do the swap for you turn key.  Or atleast call and talk $  I am curious as to what a turn key swap would cost.

"Later, I learned that even though I engage 4WD my hubs are not automatically locking? Something about manual locking hubs I think. What's manual mean? I need to read a manual to lock them? lol  So I found these neat autolocking hubs and installed them. Sometimes they dont stay locked while I am backing up, but that's fine because I dont have a backup camera to see where Im going (like our RV) so I just simply dont ever back up"- BigMike

yeah making motor mounts and in stalling the motor might not be that horable to do my self but i also would like some one that has done it before turning wrenchesr ight next to me so i dont flopp it all up or at least drinking beers coaching me through it. i just want my rig done once and for all. if the 3rz conversion is to pricy i will just continue the 7m swap seeing how i have two donar cars a cressida and a supra that i got for free and both ran before there trannies took a dump.

Well, just my two sence you should swap a 7M-GE, they make great power, and with a good head gasket and a good colling system, there flawless from what I hear. and with the 7m theres more room to grow, than a 3rz and hell of alot cheaper. 7m they make alot of aftermarket parts, just have to look hard.

if you swap in a 3rz you can use a w59 bellhousing and it'll bolt right up to your w56 (or get one if you dont already) 4rnrick did a 3rz swap in his build on pirate qusimoto (sp) very detailed and he did it himself...

Wrecking Yard Motor Swap Parts Needed
**************************************************
2.7L 3RZ-FE Toyota T-100 or Tacoma 1994-2004 (Auto or Manual tranny):
Block, Head, Valve cover, Oil pan, Oil pump, Timing cover,
Water pump and pulley, Mechanical clutch fan (unbroken),
Heater and Radiator Hoses, Crank pulley, Intake runners,
Intake Plenum, Throttle Body, Intake tube, MAF, Filter box,
EGR, EGR Modulator, Charcoal Canister, Vacuum solenoids,
Fuel Rail, Injectors, Fuel regulator, Fuel filter,
all associated Hardlines and vacuum lines, Distributor/coil packs,
Motor Mounts, Engine accessory brackets, Alternator,
PS pump & holes, AC & Hoses, Belt adjusters, Starter,
Exhaust manifold, exhaust collector, Both 02 sensors and Cat.

Wiring harnesses must be uncut:
Motor Harness, engine bay/headlight harness, under dash harness,
Engine bay fuse box, kick panel fuse box.

ECU:
2.7L 3RZ-FE ECU of same year as motor and must be from a Manual Tranny

Bellhousing Components:
W59 5 speed bell housing from any 4 cyl Tacoma (2wd, 4wd, 2rz, 3rz)
Clutch Slave, Clutch Fork, Bellhousing boot, Flywheel, Inspection cover

Since mine was from a Taco, I also need to convert the front sump 5 qt oil pan to a T-100 rear sump 6 qt oil pan to clear the front axle. Here is the list of parts that I need for that conversion. I'm told that you don't need to relocate the dip stick when swapping oil pans, so for now I won't be ordering one until I see both oil pans side by side and I can compare the dip stick locations to oil pan clearance.
(EDIT: I was informed (thanks Justin) that I really should relocated the dip stick so I'm adding those part numbers below....)
