crank pulley rotates and binds in either direction
« on: Dec 25, 2006, 06:37:09 PM »
I have an 89 4runner with the 3.0 that has been sitting for awhile.I start it periodically and then one day it seemed as if the starter locked up.Pulled the starter and try to rotate the crankand it binds up in either direction.I then yanked the plugs thinking maybe it jumped time with the same results. The truck ran fine the last time I ran it.I let it run for at least a half an hour with no odd noises whatsoever.I hear a clicking noise around the flywheel if I rotate it past where it binds. All the bolts in the flywheel are tight. What gives?
I'd rather push a Toyota than drive a Jeep!!!

sounds like you dropped a valve,  pull your  valve covers  and see if a spring is loose and wobbly
