I ran the kit on my 81 and it was horrible.  The shocks were really bad and the leafs were very stiff.   Flex was non existent!  The only thing the kit is good for is giving your truck a lift and that's about it.  Probably recommend going for the Marlin 4" kit, I have that on my truck and it flexes really well and rides well on the street.   Get crossover steering too while you're at it...

The costs are a bit high to import 4" spring packs to South Africa.

are you saying that pro comp is the only thing available locally? Is it expensive to import any springs?  Let us know what you can get your hands on then we can give opinions on that stuff otherwise you will just get recomendations on U.S. stuff.  Can you get Old Man Emu? I have heard good things about them,Downey is low cost & nice ride, are there any spring shops near you they can make you some cheaper than importing I would think.

Old Man Emu has only got a 2.5" lift, that means I will have to put a body lift on. If I can get a quote on the price of 4" Marlin packs I might be able to sell my Pro Comp kit.

I have rancho (essentially the same as procomp) 2.5" lift. I have to put a bunch of sandbags in my bed or I rattle my brains everytime I go over a speed bump the springs are so stiff.

If I don't step up to the Marlin kit which is what I would like, Im going to look into OME.
Another run these or know if they're softer than Procomp/Rancho? Basically I want to either go all out with the marlin kit or save a ton of money and keep same lift height and spring length (no d-shaft and hanger work to be done).

I'll agree with the other post that the Pro-Comp 4" lift is good for nothing but that, lift.  Mine rides really stiff & when I hit bumps in the road at normal speed limit it keeps bouncing.  I'm looking forward to upgrading mine as soon as possible as money permits.

I've got the 4" pro-comps. I can't say they bend or W, because they're really stiff. They keep bouncing after speed bumps etc., rough ride. I'm going to be replacing them as well as soon as i have time.  :twocents:
