Simply simple, 1 topper, 2 nuts, one long carrige bolt, several big washers,  1 racheting strap, one bungy cord, and an old neopryne spring bushing. 1st drill hole in bed after butting highlift against rear of bed runnig along side of bed, then using 2 big washers on each side of the bed at the hole and bolt them to the bed, slide the spring bushing onto bolt and another washer then with the second bolt snug to bushing slide highlift over bolt and then tighten with wingnut. Put spare against highlift and rachet strap to bed, take bungy and run from rachet of rachet strap to handle of highlift to keep it from rattling like crazy, wipe hands on pants.

I think he's telling how he strapped down his hilift/spare tire

Mine, didn't do anything to the bed, but made a "rack" for my spare and hilift.

Sorry, those are the best pics I have of the "rack"   Yes, it is made out of an old security door.  I built it to help hold stuff in the bed, I strapped the hilift on one side of the tire, and then ratchet strapped the tire down.  Thing didn't move at all the whole time on the trail.

Saves having to strap down everything else too.

I thought that's what he wanted to see was how we mounted stuff to our beds, not just our beds in general.

Yep you got it. I was wanting to see how and where yall mount stuff like spare and jack and stuff. I have got several idea's from this thread. I have been thinking about a rack like a couple I have seen here. I am also thinking of doing the rack on the back like the jeeps do. Oh the decisions that have to be made.

try this again the high lifts is mounted right behind the cab underneath the tool box i wish i made the whole thing 4in longer

rockcrawlinredneck

Well I started on my set up. I used the rack that had on my old flat bed, so that I did not have to make another one. I am putting the spare tire on the bed floor the rack will go above it. There are 2 dead areas in the corners at the front so I am going to run my dual battery there. I am going to mount my high lift to that on the back and lock it, that will also keep the spare locked in there. There is plenty of room for my little trail tool box, ice chest and bin thingy we take behind the rack. Now I know you are sitting there scratching your head thinking "this guy is smoking some serious crack" but I have it all in my head. Keep your eyes peeled for a post I will start about it in my build thread when it is finished.
