Christian, no promises since I have a busy schedule and all but I'd love to show you the rubicon, and I usually have an empty seat.

To get there from LA take 5 north untill you get to sacramento (around 6 hours depending on traffic). From there watch for the sign to south lake tahoe, hwy 50 east. From 50 east you will head to the hills, it is exactly 100 miles from sacramento to the trail head. From hwy 50 you will make a left on to ice house road and follow that up the hill. From there you will make a right to Loon Lake, the trail starts at the damn at loon lake. The roundup is walking distance from the trail head so if you have a car you can get to the roundup. I am in sacramento, feel free to email me direct at webmaster@rcrc4x4.com.

As for some more rubicon info look here:

Hope you can make it!

100 miles from sacramento, and SF is not really that far (maybe 45 miles if that) from sacramento. Traffic is the issue from SF, could be 1-4 hours to sac, then another 2 hours to be safe to the trail.

you can put san francisco to say pollock pines in mapquest.com to get a rough idea. I doubt ice house would come up on mapquest so add a half hour to pollock pines.

Don't take it the wrong way but I have invited several different people to my house and have had good/bad results. I would love to invite you to stay at my house but it is not fair to the family without knowing you first.

You can get a place for $50 probably, is it just you coming? Rubicon - all camping..
