i am am finishing up my machinig degree and i want to make a set of six bolt hysteer arms for a milling final and make a set of six bolt knuckles for a lathe final. i am not trying to steal marlins awsome idea but it will help me in two different ways. and there is no possible way i could start production work so you dont have to worrie about that. the time to make them is probly not worth the price to buy them but it will fulfill my degree requirements. i was hopingthat some might be willing to part with a set of blue prints for the hyteer arms and knuckles and or at least sell them for a price. if nocando at least some pointers as far as material's  and heat treatment. i can measure all of the stuff off of my setup i have now but i don't want to tear down the rig for a long time. thanks in advance if you can help.

You might be barking up the wrong tree here.  I think there has been a battle over those plans and I don't think you will be receiving any of them.  IMO

What kind of machining capabilities do you have? The steering arms can be made easily on a cnc mill in 3 ops if you have 3D machining capabilities. As for the six bolt knuckles, don't waste your time. They are a casting. I'm not saying they couldn't be made from solid stock, because a good machinist can build anything with the right equipment, but those knuckles have some seriously complex shapes to be machining from solid stock. You say you want to build the knuckle as a lathe final? I don't see much that can be machined on a lathe other than maybe a roughing op. The rest would have to be done on the mill, and most of it would be very complex 3axis machining.

It would be sweet to get a CAD file on the steering arms, but I don't think anyone's gonna give you one. If I had a set I could put them on our CMM and reverse engineer a set. I would like to build another set for myself, but it's not cool to steal someone's design and market it.

Good luck on your finals. I've been doing machine work fulltime for five years now. I work in Huntsville, AL building wind tunnel models for the defense industry. It's a cool job, we build some awesome stuff. Plus, it's really nice having access to a full blown machine shop when your hobby is building rockcrawlers. I've got paid to build a lot of parts for my truck.

It should be pretty easy to make up a steering arm as bluetoy84 said, sure you could make up your own custom cut one with crazy angles and such since your not marketing them machine time isn't a problem. I'd make them as complex as you can just for the bling factor and say "ya i made that".  As for the knuckle i think your :pokinit: outta luck.
