? what will i have to change to mount a 86 5sd in to a 83,  my main ? is will i have to move the tranny mount. its dark and wet out and i don't care to go lie under it tonight and mesure every thing. thanks

86 tranny in a 83  :yikes:  you have to shorten the rear driveshaft about 6 inches,  lengthen the front,  move the crossmember,  cut a new hole in the floor.  basically  everything you would have to do if you were going dual cases

get a L52HD from Marlin  they will bolt right in to your 83  and its as strong or stronger than the 86 G54 tranny

not my truck doing a engine swap found front trans bearing toast, i have a spare trans and t case  i was going to offer him.  ( o and i would get to keep his top shif t-case)

The speedo cable may be a tad too short too.  Which reminds me.  I need to purchase the extension from this site.
