Today me and my dad (with a little help from a buddie) just about got the rear suspension done. what we have to finish tomarrow is...

-cut/mount rear shock hoop
-weld rear shock mounts to axle
-make a extension bracket for the load sensor bar thingy
-finish the welds on the shackle hangers
-rethread a u-bolt

and has anybody ever had a problem with the marlin rear u-bolts not being threaded correctly or with a dull die? because one of mine seems to have been theaded with a dull/bad die (you can tell when looking at the threads and trying to run the nut down)?

oh and i took some pics but i forgot my usb cord for my camera at my moms house! i should have them up tomarrow night.

MY BUILD UP THREAD

Jud

ok soo i got the rear all done today!

first problem...the bolt was froze up in the bushing sleeve so we ground the head off and bent the stock hanger and pulled it out.  (saturday)

got the old springs off. (saturady)

measured and tacked up the front spring hangers. (saturday)

welded up the front spring hangers (saturday)

measured/tacked up the shackle hangers, bolted up the shackles and springs to make sure everything was still aligned. (saturday)

this is how it sat saturday night...

sunday morning (today) got up and welded up the shackle hangers.

cut, aligned, tacked, and welded in the rear shock hoop.

measured, tacked, and welded the shocks mounts to the axle. then bolted the shocks up.

i will take pics of the height tomarrow. it looks like an muscle car with rear all jacked up and the front at stock height! lol. the last weekend of February we are gonna do the front suspension.

Probably not if they came in the SKY kit. Look fine to me.
If you still have control you aren't going fast enough

Duffil

they are either too long or the rear hangers are too far back.  look at that last pic.  the spring is going W and the shackle is only at about 45*.

dov'd85

so the MTR's are for mud and the AT's are for rocks :dunno:.... :haha: ya looks like the rear hangers need to go forward a good inch+

I see where you are coming from there. Yeah I would have moved the hanger forward. Duffil you are correct.
If you still have control you aren't going fast enough

Loki

that could be due to the fact that the front is still at stock height

ya they could come foward 1/2" or so but its all welded up and they will settle a little bit soo i think im just gonna leave them where they are for now. maybe i'll redo them after i get the front lifted.

Sunday me and a couple buddies went on a "snow run" up in Sonora. We went up the road going to Cherry Lake.
I guess I forgot to torque down my rear driveline bolts at the transfer case flange and 3 of them fell out! Well I assume 2 were already gone then I came around a corner and ran over a rock which my tire threw up. It hit my driveline then I heard and felt this thud thud thud and watched my tranny tunnel bow up and down. So I robbed one bolt from the diff side of the rear driveline and another from the front driveline and drove her home!

Fixing the driveline.

the deepest snow we found was about a foot deep.
