steering help
« on: Nov 13, 2006, 06:50:17 AM »
On my 1980 truck I am trying to disconnect the steering from the pitman arm. Not on the steering box side but the other side. It looks like it is press fitted or somthing but I am not sure about it any help would be appreciated..

Thanks, Chris

Set of dem jaw pullers would werk...either that or pickle fork?  I just removed all that junk together and replaced with histeer.
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

are you talking about the drag link??   theres a slot  in each end  thats actually  a plug,  remove the cotter pin  and rotate the slotted plug  like a big screw,   then it will just fall off

So what you are saying is that you want to remove your draglink from your pitman arm? If so there will be a cotter pin running across the end of it, pull that pin then use a big screwdriver and back the nut off. That will slack the fitting and you should be able to pull it off.
