I dont think so but I could be wronge.  althought strong is a realitive term.  I believe tool steel is much harder, or stronger, but is more brittle.
Your chromoly should be less brittle, and more capably of load shock and stress, although when put in a tension test would probably be weaker also...   Im sure someone will disagree, but when I was an engeenering student we did tinsil testing,  and the more heat treated  the higher the tinsil rating but the more brittle.

Yeah thats what I remember... The harder it is the more brittle it is.

Im just wondering because I am going to get the All Pro hysteer and its made of forged 4130 chrom moly and then i just went to trail gear just to see what theirs is made out of and its forged 8620 tool steel. Now im not about to get that but i just wanted to see. Then theres marlin with billit arms but i dont recall what theirs is made out of. Id like to get marlin but Im cheap and All Pro is 60 bucks less

It might be stronger with the tool steel, which for some applications may be better but offroad where you shock and jolt things alot I would rather have a steel desighned to absorb some of that...  It was cool when we heat treated steel we would start with a standard piece,  cut it up to lengths and then put it in the machine to test its breaking strenghth, and the base steal when it gave it would strech like taffy, but the as you got further up in the heat treatment the stretching would become less and less and the steel when at its max would pop as it broke apart.

In the long run something less brittle would probably be better in a way? Im goin to get allpro regardless cause of the price but im just wonderin...

Yeah the kit I got from all pro was 339 + tax (24 ish) + shipping (28 ish)... I just got the hysteer.

Marlins kit is 399 + tax + shipping so I was saving myself 60-70 bucks.
