I am interested in replacing the AR5 tranny behind an Isuzu 3.5l v6.  I know you have done this behind a couple 3.2l.  This swap shouldn't be a problem, as they are the same block and the flywheel, pilot and throwout bearings are the same.  The clutch disc is larger ~10.8" vs 10.25", but I believe you used a clutch disc that was 10.5" with the stock Isuzu pressure plate and flywheel.

What tranny do I have the option of using?  I would prefer to use a R151F.  Or do I need the longer input R150F found behind the 3.4L?  What was done to allow the Toyota input to work?  Was the input shaft modified or was a longer pilot bearing machined?

Thanks

Nick, Isusu chose to use a rearward pull clutch so I had to modify a Isusu front nose cone and the Toyota input to accept the larger 1 and 1/8" Toyota input shaft. I had to use the 96' and newer R150F trans with the longer input gear and extend the pilot tip as well. My extension slid into the factory Isusu pilot bearing.
Because the newer input gear does not mesh with the older (86-95') countrshaft, (greater helix angle), I was unable to use the 4.31:1 R151F trans
Yes, I used a 10.5" Toyota disk made by centerforce for the chevy V6, V8 converson.

Nick, I am doing this from memory, it has been a couple of years since I did the two conversions. Tomorrow, I will check my engineering and update this post.

Thank you.

I am trying to save a little money right now, and will have to wait to do duals.  Will a passenger drop CD case bolt to a 96+ transmission?

I was planning on just ordering a rebuilt tranny from you, would you be able to refund any of the core charge for my Isuzu transmission?

Tuite

Also was the toyota speed sensor able to be used.  The Isuzu seems to be a three wire (one from the fuse block, one to the PCM, and a ground).

I have a 96+ trans which has a 8 bolt LH pattern to the RH gear driven t/case adapter plate. It is 1/2" thick and the kit costs $349.00.
I may not have any 96+ V6 trans in stock :(
I will check my stock tomorrow.
Sorry, I have no market for the Isusu trans/t-case.

I think the AR5 trans is made by Aisin Seiki so your bellhousing and front collar could be reused.

The Isusu electric pluse amplifer threaded directly to the Toyota mechanical sender :ladys-man:

That is no problem on the tc I would just run a drivers drop until I can afford to do the dual cases in a few months.  This isn't my main trail rig, just a slow build of a DD to eventually replace my other truck so 4wd isn't a must have right now.

I will call tomorrow to check on if you have the 96+ tranny in stock and see if I can get this swap going.

Thank You

Marlin

Tuite, Make sure when you call to tell my guys that I told you to call me
Call around 10:00 A.M.
This will give me time to check stock.

Hey, Marlin.

I found a R150F from a 2000 Taco.  I will be getting in touch on shipping it to you next week once I have time to pull my old tranny, so the nose cone can be shipped with with it.

Thank again,
Nick

Marlin
