so let me get this straight, if i get a set of 2 inch shackles i get another 2 inches of lift right> am i correct??

pros and cons of shackles gladly accepted.  Oh yah and aussie lockers? anybody try them?

shackles will give you a total of 1 1/2 inch i think and when you put them on your rig they will change your pinion angle a little, they are effective though in a good way

Basically you are effectively lifting half of the spring (assuming it is equal distances from eye to centering pin) so 2 in. shackles will give ya about 1 inch of lift.  I try and use shackles to correct for lost camber, or bad pinion angles.  For instance on my 84 I dropped the front spring hanger about 2.75 in.  With my 2 in. longer shackles I had about 0 degrees of caster!! I put 3 degree wedges in backwards to gain some of it back but I still havent got enough.  If memory serves toys like 5-6 degree's so I need to make some longer shackles.  Hope this helps

Actually my pinion angle isnt all that bad with the axle moved forward.  It is a LOT better than it was before the spring swap.
Yeh that would be nice but Ive got more "interesting"  things to do with my cash right now.  The little truck!

but i already have the 4 inch skyjacker on my 82 and i was just curious as to if i should get some shackles and put em on or would i have to do alot more mods to get em to work?

Shackles are about the only way to get skyjackers to really "work".  They need to have the smooth movemont of longer shackles to flex well.  Shawnb's truck has 5 in's on the front it didnt move with out shackles.  Something to think about.

I have seen rigs where their entire lift is shackle

As long as you are just using it to make up for a little sag or getting a little more flex.

4wheel parts sells 2 1/2 in shackles for about  $60.00 that work just fine. they don't come with greesable bolts though. But you can throw these on in a half hour if you get after it.

if you get the shackles, u might want to get a 2 degree or so shim to correct the pinion angle, thats what i was told to do.

hey brandon im running the stock drivelines for now but my suspension is stiff as hell.  so far i got 4 inches more than stock and i can get about 18 inches before my back wheel comes up.  basically i need some cheap articulation.

shackles won't help your suspension really, take some stock rears and put em up front (you'll need longer shackles simply because they springs are longer). Lotsa tricks but shackles won't make it softer.. what springs are you runnin?

Stock YJ or wagoneer springs work great as well, and Rancho 44044's are what I run if ya need the lift (wagoneer lift springs)

Or a cheap softing trick would be to pull your shocks off and do a little wheelin in it.  Jump it a few times and those springs will soften.  I know it sounds funny but it will softin those rught up and they will settle.  Beats spending more money if its a issue

maybe you got stiff shocks, I run 9000's set on 1 and it helps

If i put the stock rears up front, will the height be the same and will i have to weld new hangers or what.

You want cheap articulation huh.  Ive got bronco II springs in the rear and rears up front.  If you are really cheap you can get shocks off of rigs in the yard.  Basically all the parts you need are gonna be either at the junk yard or the metal recyclers.  Its easy, very cheap, very effective.  If you need pics, look in the projects section under Ive been busy.  Most all the info you need is in there.
